What's New

AWS Transform has launched advanced agentic migration assessment capabilities that enable organizations to rapidly build comprehensive migration business cases using whatever inventory data they already have. The new features introduce what-if scenario modeling, customizable TCO assumptions, and multi-service cost analysis covering EC2, FSx, S3, SQL Server on EC2, and virtual desktops. Assessments can now also incorporate the full AWS Cloud Value Framework, including staff productivity, operational resilience, business agility, and sustainability pillars alongside traditional cost savings.

How It Works

  • Flexible data ingestion: Accepts inventory data from RVTools exports, CMDB exports, AWS Transform's own discovery tool, and a wide variety of third-party discovery tools, removing the need to reformat or re-collect data before starting an assessment.
  • What-if scenario creation: Users define customizable assumptions per scenario—including target AWS Region, resource utilization rates, and service mapping choices—to model different migration approaches side by side.
  • Scenario comparison engine: Multiple what-if scenarios can be generated and compared simultaneously, allowing teams to identify the lowest-cost or highest-value migration path before committing resources.
  • Multi-service TCO modeling: Cost analysis spans EC2 compute, FSx file storage, S3 object storage, SQL Server on EC2, and virtual desktop infrastructure, producing a holistic on-premises vs. AWS cost picture.
  • Cloud Value Framework pillars: Beyond raw cost, assessments can quantify staff productivity gains, operational resilience improvements, business agility benefits, and sustainability impact using AWS's established Cloud Value Framework methodology backed by 1,500+ customer case studies.

Virginia), Europe (Frankfurt), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (London), Asia Pacific (Seoul), and Canada (Central) as default-enabled regions.
  • Pricing: AWS Transform has no additional charge; migration assessment capabilities are included at no extra cost.
  • Cross-region note: Data may be processed in a different Region from where the AWS Transform workspace is created; users should review the data protection and cross-region processing documentation for compliance considerations.
  • Workspace dependency: Assessments are tied to an AWS Transform workspace, and the workspace Region determines the job Region; separate workspaces are required to run assessments targeting different Regions.
